Calculators: an exercise in mediocrity

So heres an idea for a rant i've had for a long time, so whats the point of using calculators in school? In 4th grade when we were learning division and such we weren't allowed to use them, but now we're allowed to use them for almost everything, its stupid. When all the computers fail, how will stores calculate prices? They probably can't write it out because they probably don't know how too. It's stupid, or rather its making us stupid. They let us use calculators for stuff we could do in our head probably if we thought about it or wrote it out. Its ridiculous.

A review of the middle school talent show

So I'm at school right now in the math room on a computer, we just got out of the talent show. What did I think of it?? I think it was worse than last years. Almost all of the entries were girls who think they could sing. Now some did pretty good, one espeshally, but most of them were not of much quality, even worse, about half were a-cappelas, ugh, thanks alot American Idol. On the bright side, there was one juggling act, Devin did this really cool thing where he made the balls look like they were floating, that was cool. Giana played the violin, i didn't really understand it, she says it was something called "rockin' strings" or something. One other girl played violin and did good. The first act was a kid playing the "Star Spangled Banner" with a guitar, and there was one kid who played guitar and did good. Later the teachers did stuff, some of them tried to rap and was dressed up like steryotypical rappers, that was hilarious. The last thing was a bunch of teachers singing a song, which really didn't seem to be much but a time waster considering it was kinda loud, and the microphone got screwed up (I remember). But the best act of the day was this skateboarding dog. Now that was cool. All in all, it was pretty lousy considering almost everything was a girl thinking they could sing. Let the word go out, UMS has very little talent!

Why can't schools be at night?

Why can't schools be at night? We wake up real early in the morning, and come to school tired and unready to learn. Schools should be at night. Like in Las Vegas, where they have night school for kids who work at all night casinos. And children of alchoholics can't sleep at night. Why not have school at night? It's a good idea. But they won't do it. Why? the government has a monopoly on public schools and they have no competition. Night Schools are a good idea. FACT!

Kids who text people when they're sitting right next to them

Whats up with kids texting people on their cell phones when the kid is sitting right next to them???? really! why??? Are you too lazy to talk??? Its a waste of money, i don't care if you have unlimited texting or not, its ridiculous. What ever happened to passing notes? If you get caught you don't lose your phone. But really, whats wrong with you? electronics destroy your social skills or your ability to speak English fluently? Don't text when the persons right next to you. Its ridiculous and absurd.

Video & song of the week

Now this is funny, these kids are going to be in so much trouble.

Fireworks in Cupboard (title to new video is firework accident.)

This was a one time thing by some people from different bands to do Pink Floyd's Brick in The Wall. I only know of 2 of them, one is Layne Staley of Alice in Chains (one of my favorite bands), who's singing is slurred in this because heroin addiction was causing him to start losing teeth and general sickness, it eventually killed him, its also why they recycled earlier footage. Another is Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave. I like this version. and the title is inaccurate, its by Class of 99 and there are 3 other guys from other bands that I'm not familiar with.

Alice in chains and R.A.T.M - another brick in the wall p.II

Hilariously bad middle school talent show bands

Today I'm going to show you two awful awful groups of kids who try to play music but clearly don't know how to.

Iron Man-Black Sabbath

Now, it starts out okay, but the rhythm falls apart fast and it becomes a mess.

Smells Like Teen Spirit-Nirvana

This is easily the worst cover of this song i have ever heard anywhere. If Kurt Cobain hadn't killed himself earlier he would have when he heard this, I'm not kidding. The only decent thing here is the drummer. The guitarist is terrible, he not only screws up, he doesn't use any distortion at all, and his amp keeps cutting out, though one time it wasn't his fault. The singer, who is a girl, needs singing lessons bad, she shouts and screams almost the whole song, not even Kurt Cobain himself did that, she chokes once and near the end when she starts rolling around on the floor its ridiculous, seriously stop trying to be Courtney Love, everyone hates her, shes just a B list junkie celebrity who stole most of her music anyway, nuff said. But don't take my word for it, i lol'ed watching it, its that bad.

Some high points, at 1:26 someone reaches down and unplugs the guitarists amp in the background. At 2:56 watch the searing solo. (heavy, heavy sarcasm)

So remember, if you are going to try and play at a middle school talent show, please, learn to play your instruments. Later.

Disney

I've probably mentioned this before, but i figured id go into more detail about something i cant stand. Disney in general, produces terrible, tv, music and movies. They have no original ideas, everything is a sequel, based on a movie, or shows about teens that live in harmony with plots that are random, boring and stupid. That also brings me to another point. All of the stuff they show, has characters 5 years older then their target audience. These 11 year old teenyboppers probably believe that's how high school really is, and its defiantly NOT! I honestly think Disney is a front to revive boy bands, and Britney spears-type pop music so they can milk it for all its worth. Really, i have cousins who are into this stuff and it sickens me. They've gotten so much money they don't even run commercials for anything, only advertising their own shows and products, therefore making more money out of a cycle. Also, they use the same actors and actresses for everything, every single show. Going back to a point, many shows are about high school but all it is, is characters that are the most stereotypical suburban kids ever, u got preps and bullies and maybe the occasional nerd but that's it. They always take on some bully or some relationship issue and then everythings back to normal and perfect with a happy ending, in every single plot. It does not represent a real high school at all. I find it sad in a few years, the kids that have grown up with this stuff, most of the first wave coming from the kids that are now going into 6th grade, will be in High school, maybe even middle school will shock them, seriously. Lets look at some stuff i found on the Internet, and no, i did not come up with these and that fact fills me with deep, deep shame.

12 year old: OMG!!!! I can't wait for high school now that I've just watched High School Musical!!!! There won't be any labels, all the cliques and crowds will live in harmony, I can share my secrets and no one will humiliate me, it will be just like a happy fairy tale.

(Not real, made up by someone on the internet, but illistrates my point perfectly)

That is what im talking about right there. o wait, there was only one, o well, the point is that the people that write this stuff must not remember high school at all.

Not to mention, the people in these "movies" and "shows" or what ever excuse for them is, are terrible role models, im sure you have all heard of the latest screw ups of miley cyrus and Vanessa Hudgens and if you don't know what I'm referring to then get out from under your rock and Google it. I really have the suspicion that Disney at least partially creates or encourages these "scandals" , wait a minute, i cant belive i wrote that word since it sounds so stupid, doesn't it? i feel like I'm writing for the national enquirer or something. but anyway Disney creates or promotes these and uses the carefully crafted attention for more publicity. how do i know this? They never fire anyone or publicly denounce them, some networks would, not Disney,no, they thrive on the behavior of the new Paris Hilton's, all part of the 90s pop revival, tied into Hannah Montana and similar shows. I'm not blaming this entirely on the people,I'm mean, look at babe Ruth, kids looked up to him, but he was both an alcoholic and an adulterer but it wasn't sensationalized like it is today, i mostly blame disney and to a much lesser extent, the media in general.

well, im out of ideas, probly because i dont write my rants at one time, i ussually spend hours writing in little chunks, leaving and then coming back, but in summary:

Disney is a front for the 90s pop revival

All shows are tie ins, high school musical 4? there was even a show based on the little mermaid and lilo and stich.

Bad actors

the same actors

terrible music

an evil corperation trying to take over the world

dont watch disney

ever

im done here, and as always please post comments cause i like that people read my rants and i also like opening my email inbox, i did this rant because i...nevermind i actually spent 5 minutes thinking what to say but i got nothing, later
